ALARIC RORE, the Senior Engineer for Pacific Clean Energy Partners, is based in Honiara, Solomon Islands.  He has 32 years of experience managing renewable energy, civil engineering, and building construction projects, and designing and constructing wharves, bridges, and roads throughout the Islands. Alaric’s renewable energy experience includes seven years working as Staff Engineer with the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority, where his responsibilities included structural design and implementation of the Tulagi Powerhouse, the Micro Hydropower and Komarindi Hydropower Project. In addition, Alaric worked as Assistant Head of Division and Senior Energy Officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources, where he coordinated training programs in the installation of solar hot water and solar PV systems.

Alaric provides engineering expertise for road maintenance projects by Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation and was the Design Engineer responsible for scoping and developing technical specifications for numerous government- and privately funded wharf structures, including the Chea, Malu’u, Kirakira, Matangasi, Bellona, Lengana, and Koriovuku wharves. He supervised the construction of the Fishery Centre for the Western Provincial Government at Gatoka and carried out soil Investigations and footing designs for structures including the retaining wall for the Parliament House.  

In his role as Design Engineer for the Transport Sector Development Program, Alaric designed and scoped maintenance programs for wharves and bridges in several provinces and assisted in the design of airfields, schools, and clinics. As a consultant for several engineering companies, he supervised construction of Telekom towers and designed and implemented numerous projects including a new reticulation water supply system for Betikama Adventist College in Honiara.

As Deputy Team Leader of the Solomon Islands Emergency Assistance Project, Alaric supervised the rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and coastal infrastructure. He also worked with the EU Micro project to oversee the implementation and monitoring of 105 social infrastructure projects in various Provinces of the Solomon Islands at a total cost of SBD$17.5 million.  Alaric has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree from Central Queensland University and an Associates Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Capricornia Institute of Advanced Education in Queensland.
